Stanley Cup Finals
The NHL season is over, with the Florida Panthers winning Lord Stanley’s cup and
becoming back-to-back champions. The Panthers beat the Edmonton Oilers for the second
straight year, winning the series 4-2. Game 6 saw Florida in complete control, with Sam
Reinhart netting four goals, two on an empty net late in third period with the game already in
hand. Florida forward Sam Bennett brought home the Conn Smyth Trophy as playoff MVP,
scoring 15 goals for the Panthers through the postseason. Florida becomes the first repeat
champion since their cross-state rivals, the Tampa Bay Lightning, won the cup in 2020 and
2021. This marks the fourth time in the last six years that the Stanley Cup winner has called
the Sunshine State home. And the Canadian drought continues, with the 1993 Montreal
Canadiens being the last team north of the border to bring the cup home.
NBA Finals
After and exciting back-and-forth series, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers
are set for a winner-take-all Game 7 that will determine who wins the NBA Championship.
In Game 1, Indiana secured a comeback win. The Thunder crushed it during Game 2.
Game 3 was neck and neck, with the Pacers winning late. In Game 4, the Thunder won a
close battle. Game 5 saw OKC roll to a win, and the Pacers dominated in a Game 6 victory
to tie the series at 3-3 with the deciding Game 7 on Sunday night. So the question is who
takes home the Larry O’Brien Trophy? SGA or Haliburton? Blue & Orange or Blue &
Yellow? OKC or Indy? Pacers or Thunder? We’ll find out tomorrow night!
