New Wideout in Dallas
The Dallas Cowboys have ended their search for a wide receiver by finalizing a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers to trade for wide receiver George Pickens. Pickens will play opposite Ceedee Lamb. The trade sent Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick to Dallas for a 2026 third-round and 2027 fifth-round pick from Pittsburgh.
Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies are 6-32, which leaves some people speculating who is worse: the 2025 Rockies or the 2024 Chicago White Sox? Just last year, the White Sox broke the record for worst ever season in MLB history (41-121). Through the same amount of games last year, the White Sox were 10-28, four games better than the Rockies. The Rockies also play in a division where they are the only team with a losing record. The Rockies have a lot of games remaining versus their division rivals: 13 versus the Arizona Diamondbacks (20-19), 9 versus the San Francisco Giants (24-15), 9 versus the San Diego Padres (24-13), and 10 versus the Los Angeles Dodgers (26-13). The White Sox played in a division that looks like Triple-A squads when stacked up against this year's NL West.
Soccer
Liverpool has won the Premier League title. With one game remaining, Liverpool has 82 points, 15 more than 2nd place Arsenal. Liverpool had an incredible season, posting a record of 25-7-3 (wins-draws-losses). The Reds finished the season with a +46 goal dierential, with 81 goals for and 35 goals against.
In the MLS, the Vancouver Whitecaps have a league best 26 points. However, the east is where the fun is, with Columbus Crew leading at 24 points. Philadelphia Union and FC Cincinnati are tied at 22 points in second and third. Inter Miami is in fourth with 21 points. Charlotte FC is 5th with 19 points. Nashville SC, New York City FC, and Orlando City SC are all tied at 17 points, seven points behind Columbus– the same gap between Vancouver Whitecaps and second place in the west, Minnesota United FC.
NBA Playoffs
The second round of the NBA playoffs has been wild. All road teams won Game 1, and in the East, Game 2. The one-seed Cleveland Cavaliers are trailing 2-1 to the four-seed Indiana Pacers. The Pacers took Games 1 and 2 in Cleveland versus a banged up Cavs team. But in Game 3, the fully healthy Cavaliers got a statement win, 126-104. The two-seed Boston Celtics are facing a tough test in their title defense, as New York Knicks lead the Celtics 2-0. New York was down 20 in both of Games 1 and 2, but came back, winning 108-105 and 91-90, behind clutch Mikal Bridges steals in both matches. The Celtics, however, are a better road playo team than home playo team. The next two games are in Manhattan at Madison Square Garden. In the West, the four-seed Denver Nuggets stole Game 1 over the one-seed Oklahoma City Thunder with a 121-119 win. Aaron Gordon made the game-winning three-pointer with 2.8 seconds to play. The Thunder proceeded to stomp the Nuggets in Game 2, 149-106. The Nuggets got the lead back on their own home court, winning Game 3 113-104 in overtime. The seven-seed Golden State Warriors and the six-seed Minnesota Timberwolves are tied 1-1. The Warriors took Game 1 with a 99-88 win. The Timberwolves won Game 2 117-93.
NHL Playoffs
The second round is underway. The Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars are tied at one. In Game 1, Mikko Rantanen had his second straight hat trick, as his natural hat trick won the Stars Game 1, 3-2. Rantanen had a hat trick in Game 7 of the Stars’ first round series win versus the Colorado Avalanche. In Game 2, Connor Hellebuyck shut down the Stars, as the Jets evened the series with a 4-0 win. The Edmonton Oilers lead the Vegas Golden Knights 2-0. The Knights led Game 2 2-0 before the Oilers three third period goals won it 4-2. In Game 2, Vegas again scored the first goal, taking a 1-0 lead. The Oilers then scored three straight goals. Vegas battled back to tie it at four and send it to overtime. In overtime, Leon Draisaitl scored, winning it 5-4 for the Oilers. The Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to end the Florida Panthers’ title defense. The Maple Leafs lead 2-1. The Maple Leafs won Games 1 and 2 on home ice, 5-4 and 4-3. The Panthers struck back, winning 5-4 in overtime on an important comeback win. The Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals are tied at 1-1. The Hurricanes won Game 1 in overtime 2-1, stealing home ice from the Capitals. The Capitals struck back, winning 3-1 in Game 2 with an empty net goal to seal it.
