Wrexham A.F.C.

Wrexham A.F.C. just earned their third straight promotion, but how did it happen? It all started in 2021 when Ryan Reynolds (yes the person who plays Deadpool) and Rob McElhenney, bought Wrexham. In the 2021 season Wrexham, who were in the National Leauge (5th level of english soccer), did very well finishing second in both the National League and FA Trophy. Wrexham’s leading scorer was Paul Mullin with 22 goals. Despite everything, Wrexham could not earn a promotion. Wrexham lost in the National League Playos semi-finals. In 2022, Mullin again led Wrexham with 38 goals. Wrexham earned a promotion, finishing 1st in the National League with 111 points. In 2023, Wrexham earned another promotion with 88 points. In 2023, Wrexham finished second behind Stockport County with Paul Mullin leading Wrexham having 24 goals. In the current season, Wrexham earned their 3rd straight promotion this year to the EFL Championship and sit with 89 points. The EFL Championship is the second level of English soccer, one promotion away from the Premier Leauge. The Premier League is considered by many to be the top Soccer League in the world. 

2024 White Sox or 2025 Rockies 

Just one year after having a 121 loss season, the White Sox may have some competition. The Colorado Rockies currently hold a MLB worst 6-26 record through 32 games (the same as the 2024 White Sox) The Rockies also don’t get help by playing in the hardest division in baseball. So who is worse: the 2024 White Sox or the 2025 Rockies? Only time will tell.

NBA Playoffs 

The NBA playoffs are going strong with both 1 seeds sweeping the 8 seeds, Oklahoma City Thunder over Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers over Miami Heat. In the West there are two series tied at 3-3 the Four vs Five and Two vs Seven. The 53-35 Los Angeles Clippers and 53-35 Denver Nuggets are tied at 3-3. The Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors are tied at 3. The 6 Minnesota Timberwolves upset the 3 Los Angeles Lakers 4-1. The Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics both won their series in five games with the Pacers beating the Millwaukee Bucks and the Celtics beating the Orlando Magic. The New York Knicks beat the Detroit Pistons 4-2. 

*The records include the playoff games both the Clippers and Nuggets went 50-32 in the regular season

NHL Playoffs 

The first round of the NHL Playoffs is underway. The Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals, and Carolina Hurricanes each won their series 4-1, over the Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens, and New Jersey Devils. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Vegas Golden Knights, and Edmonton Oilers won their series 4-2 beating the Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild, and Los Angeles Kings. The Winnepeg Jets and St. Louis Blues are tied at 3-3. The Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche are tied at 3-3. 

2 Homeruns in the 9th Inning 

Riley Greene of the Detroit Tigers made history becoming the first ever MLB player to hit two ninth inning homeruns. The score was tied at 1-1, against the Angels, at the start of the ninth. Leado man Greene hit a solo homerun o Angels closer Kenley Jansen. After some more hits and runs, Greene came back up with the score at 6-1, and two men on base. Greene hit a three run shot to give the Tigers a 9-1 lead. The Tigers won 9-1. Greene became the first MLB player ever to hit two 9th inning home runs
