Volume 26:46
Georgia vs. Alabama
It is time for possibly the biggest college football game of the regular season. As usual, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs are at the top of the sport. Both teams are 5-0. They have been the two most dominant teams this year. This is not just any other game– this is Georgia vs. Alabama. The #1 Georgia Bulldogs have been unfathomably good. They have outscored their opponents 257-67, or 51.4-13.4 in singular games. They are 3-0 in the SEC, destroying the Arkansas Razorbacks 45-17, the Oklahoma Sooners 41-13, and the Vanderbilt Commodores 38-14. Georgia QB Gunner Stockton has thrown for over 1,000 passing yards and 13 TDs this season. #6 Alabama has an equally impressive 5-0 record. They have outscored their opponents by a score of 248-104, or 49.6-20.8. Alabama’s QB Keelon Russell has thrown for a crazy 1,400 passing yards and 11 TDs. These two squads are the best of the best. As is every year, Alabama versus Georgia is a heavyweight matchup that will prove to be of utmost importance come college football playoff seeding.
MLB Playoffs
The NLCS is set. We have a rematch from last season. The Milwaukee Brewers will be taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers with a trip to the World Series on the line. The Brewers played the San Diego Padres in the NLDS. San Diego quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead in Game 1 of the series, but Milwaukee fought back to snatch a 3-2 victory and take a 1-0 lead. While that happened, the Dodgers were facing off against the Atlanta Braves. In Game 1 of that series, the Dodgers took a 5-1 lead, and held off the Braves comeback to win 5-3, and go up 1-0. The Brewers showed their resilience in Game 2 going down 3-1 before coming back once again to win 4-3 and take a 2-0 lead on San Diego. The Dodgers lost their second game by a score of 3-2 to the Braves. That Atlanta win allowed them to even the series. The Brewers couldn’t come back in Game 3, losing 4-3 as the Padres remained alive. A dominant pitching effort from Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 3 put the Dodgers up 2-1 and Atlanta on the brink of elimination. Milwaukee turned around from their Game 3 loss and ended San Diego’s season with a 3-1 victory, to advance to the NLCS. The Dodgers also won in Game 4, beating the Braves 4-1 to punch their ticket to a rematch with Milwaukee. So who will win– the Brewers who have never won a World Series, or the Dodgers who have won the last two? This is sure to be a great matchup.
Only one of the three divisional round series was a sweep. That was Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees. The Rays made quick work of the Yankees, beating them 3-0 and making a case that they should be the favorites to win the Fall Classic. The Yankees started by being no hit for 7⅔ innings, and never really got going. The other ALDS series continues. The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians are tied 2-2 and will have a win-or-go-home game tonight. The White Sox took a 2-0 lead into Game 3, but have unraveled and now find themselves in this Game 5.
